I am really excited to be teaching health at Hunters Glen Elementary again this year!
We will be covering a wide variety of topics related to children’s health throughout the school year. We will be using the Second Step curriculum to help the students to develop a stronger understanding of feelings, personal differences, and conflict-resolution skills. We will be using the Know Your Body curriculum to discuss topics such as personal hygiene and fitness. We will be spending some time talking about nutrition and how a well-balanced diet contributes to healthy bodies. We will also discuss tobacco and its negative effects on the body. These are just a few of the topics that will be covered this year in health.
I am also very excited to try some after school Bear Crawl Activities. I am planning to do a program that I call “Noodle Madness.” This will be an after school activity that promotes physical activity and fun through the use of pool noodles. Each activity will help the students to develop specific skills such as fleeing and dodging, balance, and teamwork. Look for more information about “Noodle Madness” when the list of Bear Crawl activities comes out.
If you ever have any questions regarding your child’s health curriculum, please feel free to stop by and see me before or after school.
I am looking forward to a great year teaching health to the students of Hunters Glen Elementary School.
